  • Oversaw the development of training data and evaluation of prompt/response pairs for Intuit's proprietary LLM "FILM,” enhancing member engagement by 16%. This model now serves 140 million members via a chat interface, improving response accuracy by 37% over Llama 2 (base model).

Executive Sports Editor

Managed a team of 24 top-notch journalists, overseeing sports coverage across 10 McClatchy publications in the Southeast region, including The Charlotte Observer, Raleigh News & Observer, and The State in Columbia, S.C. Focused on storytelling innovation and medium optimization to enhance audience engagement. 

  • Developed and implemented a content strategy for NASCAR coverage, driving an average of 650,000 monthly organic page views for the 2020-22 seasons, marking a 1,200% surge over 2017-19.  

  • Forged the use of generative AI for nightly high school sports score roundups, which generated an average of 11 net new paying subscribers each week.  

  • Liaised as the lead planner and editor for books on the careers of Mike Krzyzewski and Roy Williams, and South Carolina's NCAA championship run in women's basketball. Each book sold out its initial print run, highlighting the team's ability to produce high-demand content.

Served as second-in-command of The Denver Post’s sports department, overseeing 11 reporters and a columnist. Provided guidance and coaching on crafting compelling stories and utilizing effective storytelling techniques.

  • Directed investigative reporting into the university athletics' use of opioids for pain management and instances of coaching misconduct with published articles which prompted significant athletic department changes. 

  • Promoted numerous times, progressing from an entry-level position to managing the sports department, transforming it into a nationally respected publication renowned for community outreach and innovative digital storytelling, including virtual reality and podcasts.
